I can count up my weight gains in 5 lb. chunks. From one vacation to the next.  From one business trip to the next.  From one party to the next. I never gained weight gradually.  In fact, I could maintain my weight at the same level for a long time.  Now mind you — I could never lose weight.  I would stay the same then go on a vacation and BAM! — 5 lb. gain.   Then the whole thing would start over again.  Each and every time I would swear that I would get it off on the days following my return.  Each and every time it would stay with me and it would never come off.

Well, I am back in that same cycle again.  I had a trip to Disney — then I had a trip to the beach — and now I am about to embark on a trip to San Francisco.  (Hello Santa Clara Roblox Convention!) The first two trips have so far proven to be the weight gain that I expected.  But today I am determined to break this long cycle.  Scientists use the Bell Curve to show a predictable cycle.  I think it fits here.  I have a good long period of maintenance followed buy a weight gain to the top of the curve.  Now if the science is true, I should be able to change my habits, my diet, my mindset and head back down to where I started.  To lose what I gained and get back to the norm.  Yesterday was the first day and today I am writing my blog (which keeps me on track) — I want to get it back.  I want to break the cycle of the 5 lb. chunk!

I actually have lots to write about.  We had a great time. I will do some posts this week.  I gained weight but I hope to have it back by the weigh-in this week…

Next week off to Disney. I will try to post some Disney photos and some verbage.  I am not a Disney Fan, but you gotta do it.  Here’s to you Mickey.

A good week.  No picture.  We are busy getting ready for the End of the School Year Party and I could not ask my wife to do it… She is just too busy… so next week — the week before we head to Disney!

A good week.  I tried very hard. It did not show big time on the scales, but at least it was a loss.  I am happy to be back at it again. I will try to do an update this week.  I have been busy working.

So here we are back at it again. I am going back to the picture thing…. Basically, because if I do the picture, I think I will do the diet.  My Optifast Clinic is closing.  I have to find a new meeting somewhere.  Life throws you these curves, but I am determined to overcome it.  Grumpy lost the weight without a group and without a clinic.

I crack myself up with the photo.  I moved my office so I picked a new place to take the weekly pic. OK, so next time — move the dog dishes & clean up the dirty clothes pile sitting outside the laundry room.

What can I say — I need to get back to it.  I had not wanted to blog for awhile.  There are various reasons but I was reminded by many that when I was blogging, I was losing weight.  Thank you Grumpy for staying on to me.  So I am going to do this again.  I can promise that every Tuesday you will get a new photo and a weigh-in and I can promise to post some interesting observations one a week — about Friday or Saturday.  But I cannot promise more than that.

I appreciate all the comments and encouragement.  I am humbled by the fact that many of you like my style of writing.  But I must do this because it is the only way I lose weight.  So I am back…. Like it or not.  Tomorrow is the weigh-in and the first photo.

I worked pretty hard this week but the results were not very good.  I have been doing this long enough to know that once you right the ship, your body may take a little time to catch up.  You may not see the weight loss right away but it will come.  I once had a woman in our Optifast Group that said she lost inches not weight.  She could see the inches but the scale did not tell her the right story. In the end, she lost lots of weight and lots of inches.  So with that in mind, I keep working hard — I keep planning, eating well, and walking. I keep going to the YMCA and swimming. And I will see the “inches” and eventually the weight.

Disney with the family is coming and I would like to be below 300 lbs. before I get on those rides!

New Starting Weight: 320 lbs.

  • 3                                 312.0              -2.0
  • 4                                  N/A               N/A

  • 6                                  314.0              -0.0

Spring Break — Yes, I went out-of-town and yes I gained weight.  I will tell you that I am back on track and did not go off the rails too much.  Most of the problem was eating and driving.  If I ate just carrots while I drove it would have been fine, but I did not.  My general snack food is baby carrots and pretzels — no fat pretzels that are high in protein and low in carbs.  (Hard Sourdough are the best in that category.)

I could count my weight gains in chunks of 5 lbs. I would gain quickly and not be able to get it off.  Every Monday I would start a new diet and every Tuesday I would say next Monday I will start a new diet.  This time I only gained a little and I got right back on the diet — not caring if it was Monday or not.  The other thing I will say is that I remind myself that it is very painful to lose weight – but when you gain weight you don’t say — Wow!  I really ate some good stuff.  I had the best lasagna of my life!  No, the food is never worth the weight gain.

So, I am working hard this week.  Disney with the family is coming and I would like to be below 300 lbs. before I get on those rides!
